    • The 74HC540 (74HCT540) is an 8-bit inverting buffer/line driver with three state outputs. The gadget includes two output enables (OE1 and OE2). A HIGH on OEn switches the outputs to a high-impedance OFF state. Inputs include clamp diodes. This enables the use of current limiting resistors to connect inputs to voltages higher than VCC.
